Shipping 'em in

Post by moggsy » Wed Aug 10, 2016 1:17 pm

Hi all

I received an email from a shipping company the other day and thought it might come in useful to anyone thinking of importing a car from the US. I've done it twice now, my Pontiac and before that my Plymouth. I find that even with shipping, the prices over there compare pretty favourably to here .... although the way the pound has gone lately might change that! In any case, if you're on the hunt for anything very specific, you've got a much bigger pool to fish in over there than here!

So here's the details that dropped into my inbox, not sure how they got my email address but I am guessing that someone who worked for the companies I have used may be involved and have kept the address book ;)

I would like to introduce you to MJ Forwarding Ltd.

MJ Forwarding are small company with a global presence, we are based in the
West Midlands and cover all of the UK. We specialise in shipping vehicles
worldwide. Whether it is an import or an export we can provide a tailor made
service to suit your needs. Here is a brief list of the services we can

* Vehicle Collection & Delivery
* Loading into sole use container, groupage containers or Ro/Ro
ferry's
* Export & Import documentation
* Customs Clearance
* Marine Insurance

We aim to provide affordable and efficient services to all our clients,
whether you are shipping a Lamborghini Gallardo or a Ford Fiesta we will
handle your shipment with the upmost care.

Whatever your budget may be we will work around you to provide the best
service for the best price possible.

As well as moving cars we can also ship car parts, spares, motorbikes and a
range of other vehicles.

If you would like more information on our services or require a quote please
email [email protected]

As I said, I haven't used them myself, but you may want to find out what they offer if you're looking for transport (I am not related btw, just thought it might be of interest).

The folks I have used are:
https://www.shipmycar.co.uk/ They offer a full service, which is exactly what I needed as I was working outside the UK at the time, but of course you pay for it! If you have the cash but don't have time to do it all yourself, they are pretty efficient. You can basically collect a fully UK-plated and MOT'd Yank after they have done all of the hard work for you

ICE Cargo - lost their details, but I am sure you could find it on t'interweb. They were very good and quite a bit cheaper :)

I have found the whole process of importing a car to be pretty easy, both times. Might be worth considering if you can't find what you want in the UK - and it will increase the number of Pontiacs this side of the pond :dance:
