Hi all
I would like to change the seats in my 3rd gen. Can anyone help in what would be best to get and not to get.
Don't wane to make extra work for myself.

4th gen ones fit straight in
aftermarket ones will need a bit of work took me a day last time i did some.

Will look for 4th gen as well
I've just found these on eBay 300825039441
They do them for different cars. Would it be a lot of work

they are similar to the ones i bought for another car i had john bryden did a write up about fitting seats in the wtn latest issue. it is not easy but can be done with spacers long bolts and new holes drilled and both sides of the floor are different. worth it if you fancy the job tho i was glad i changed my old ones in the end.

Easiest swap is as mentioned and get a set of 4th gen seats. If you're lucky you'll find some nice leather ones in the region of £200-£250

The cloth ones are fairly comfortable too and a lot cheaper, naturally you can get seats from Camaros or Firebirds.

Got mine for £200 but ended up spending another £200 getting an upholsterer to repair the fronts and replace a few panels.

I got mine off e-bay £50 the pair, then used the runners off the old seats, lots of spacers, long bolts. Then was able to use the existing holes in the floor to secure the seats, bit of a fiddle as both sides of the floor are different and like a mountain range.

If you don't fancy that look out for some 4th Gen seats, I've an old sofa if thats any help...

What are the options for 2nd gens? Do any seats just bolt in or will mods be required?

3rd and 4th gen seats can be made to fit but are not direct fit/bolt in
options are aftermarket or other 2nd gens really.
lutonmatt fitted 3rd gen seats in his 2nd gen (the ones out of mine)

You could be waiting a long time, I did, ended up getting some after market bucket seats off e-bay, a fiddle to fit but not impossible to do.

Yes I have noticed plenty of rear seats in good nick but never front seats!!

I may end up having the originals recovered and new foam and springs but I did have a quote of 800 quid for that!!!

The thought of butchering the floor pan to make them fit doesn't appeal!! Maybe I'm fearing the worst when really it's easy

It's not necessary to "butcher" the floor pan, use the original runners on the new seats, these will match up to the exisring holes in the floor pan. i had to make adjustments to the position of the runner on the seat to get the right amount of adjustment forward and back, just a bit of fiddling.

There's so many available, go on e-bay, put in seats and go from there, 1000's on sale, all sorts.

I used the standard runners and used flat bar to make brackets to fit mine.Its welded to runners but if i ever wanted to put my original seats back in i can just cut the brackets off and grind the welds off so no need to go out and buy new runners or drill holes in floor to use longer bolts and spacers.
Changing my seats to Recaro though as these ones are really hard to sit on,so uncomfortable.

No probs,if your better at fabbing and welding than i am then you could probably do a better job,my welding is a bit crap on them but been like that for almost 5 years and seats have not fell out yet

Lol. My welding is not bad but we have a friend that's a welder so we get him to do all that type of stuff. Had passenger floor pan front back done last year. Perfect now
