Hi all,

I need a new starter for the 5.7, theres tons of them out there but i dont want to get a crappy one. I think i would be sensible to get a hi torque mini starter too and a heatshield for my headers.

ive been looking at ones for 153 tooth flywheel, that is right isnt it ? any input welcome !

The installing instructions for some headers say that mini starters may not fit. don't know what that applies to, maybe email hooker?

I needed a new starter a few years ago, I just got an ac delco one.

Seems a bit weird as they are smaller than a stock one, which is what i had on my engine with the headers on ?!? guess i will have have a hunt around then

Just get a standard one and wrap it with header wrap,no one sees it so don't matter what it looks like.

mini hi torqe use a gear system to allow a smaller motor depending on the headers it can hit as the motor is off set to the normal position

hmmm, i might just get another standard one then, and then try and make a heatshield for it ?

if you have headers you should really heat wrap them really in my opinion as they produce i rekon at least 25% more heat then std exhurst i have seen much damage done from them they seam to cook the fuel lines,make electrical conectors just crumble ,wires go brittle ,i had a over finch range rover with a 350 chevy in it and it use to get a lot of fuel vaperisation and it would just cut out after a wrapped the headers never had another issue

I will look into that then, i dont like the look of the header wrap stuff but i know it does the job

To be honest though ive had the headers on my car for a couple of years and never had any bother, and that was with my old starter motor with no wrap or heatshield etc. Im just putting a 5.7 in now and wanted a nice new starter motor as everything is being painted so i want it all to look nice
