sticky for service parts oil etc for models ?

Post by thirdgen » Tue Mar 11, 2014 6:51 pm

Hi after my confusion and oil scare as to what i put in and what could ruin my engine could you techies get a sticky for each car eg gta 2nd gen 4th gen etc old catalina etc etc and model and do a list of correct oil filters and numbers etc so it would stop people like me asking. ? also a how much each one needs 4.5 litres etc. it is a big ask but could get filled in over time ?

it would be good to know what plugs etc fit a 400 from the local factor and oil filter etc. and what oil will blow up my engine! i mean from technical people not numpties that guess and make due with what they have to hand. ;)

its still running i did about 20 miles on 10/40 semi syntetic before my annual 20 mile oil change for the green treacle its running now :oldrolf: i must have done 40 miles sunday so overdue a oil change now :oldrolf: who makes green oil :oldrolf: never seen it before always golden in my other cars

modern oil technology has moved on so much since the original engine spec's were drawn up it is not as simple as just viscosity
the lack of certain additives that old oils had is more than made up for in modern semi synthetic oils
after all, an engine is a machine old or modern, and the lubrication requirements of newer engines is greater than old engines
there are lots of different 10/40 and 20/50 oils with lots of different properties
