Gearbox issues :-(
Howdy folks, unfortunately robin at autopontiac is away and I need some advice and parts on my gearbox.
I think it's a turbo350 trans tho you may be able to identify it better by the pic I have attached as I believe you can tell from the shape of the sump. Anyway at the back of the box is the small end that bolts to the box at one end and at the other end the axle slides in, the box also houses the speedo gears and entry of the speedo cable.
This has been on as the plastic speedo cog was split so small box was removed cog and pin replaced and all put back together again. Filled wither oil and it's now leaking!!! Where the small box connects to the main gearbox there was no gasket so should it have one there as there must be all inside the small box as it's also leaking past the speedo entry cable and housing.
There are two o rings where the cable enters and cable housing enters the small box I'm guessing replacing these too will stop that issue and I'm guessing I take the 2 to the o ring shop and have them replaced with the correct size they should be? Or is this a part that must be oem? Also will instant gasket be okay for the join between the small box and main gearbox or again Is that an oem part also??
Sorry lots of guessing etc but like I said robins away n your on the ball

If your talking about the o ring on the speedo drive housing then just go to a local car shop with it and match it up.If you have a local transmission shop they might have one or try these guys http://www.jpat.co.uk/2013_Cat_General_Motors.html
These are their part numbers, looks like there is a couple of different sizes.
44368..............O-Ring, 250/250C/350/350C Speed-O Housing (1.750”OD)(Black) 1969-86..................................1...............6264904
44369..............O-Ring, 250/250C/350/350C Speed-O Housing (2.000”OD)(Black) 1969-86..................................1...............1359319
44369A............O-Ring, 250/250C/350/350C Speed-O Housing (2.000”OD)(Purple) 1969-86................................1...............25501478
44369B............O-Ring, 250/250C/350/350C Speed-O Housing (.750”OD)(Use 103368) 1969-86.........................
If your not in a rush i might have one as i bought two clutch kits while rebuilding mine and both kits came with o rings, might take me a day or so to find them though.

Yes I know auto lock but I don't mind waiting as offshore at the moment anyway, what's your views on the gasket between the small back box and main gearbox?

Re: Gearbox issues :-(
Not had much time but think i have found the rear hosing one, they are square cut rather than the normal type o ring so i assume that's what it is.Not found the speedo drive one yet.I will have most of the day tomorrow to look as i can't do much as my heap of junk won't start, need a new starter motor,so will have a proper look.
