there is a hole in my head

Hi all
ok this is a long one so please stick with me and i apologise for my inaccurate wording etc

i am about to fire my engine for the first time in a couple of years and break in my new cam, now we have fired it an had it running very briefly to get the timing right ready to do the break in process <it sounds amazing before you ask> and we have noticed that where the inlet manifold meets the cylinder head there is a hole and it is exhausting out of the hole, this is due to a later manifold being on an earlier engine or the other way round. my friend who did the main work on the engine build noticed this when he was putting it back together but thought it wouldnt be a prob as on his 400 he had a different inlet so didnt blow.
He and i studied and followed rocky rotellas how to build a pontiac 400 and this is where it explained the inlet difference and where we might have a problem, in this book it explains that this hole can be filled with a hi temp expoxy thus stopping the leak.
my questions are, can i fill the hole with everything still intact carb inlet etc as the 1st pic shows or do i have to remove everything to fill the entire hole?
and also has anyone else had this problem and what product did you use to fill the gap?
i will attach some pics
thanks in advance guys

you would need to fill the entire hole, just filling the exposed part would serve no real purpose as the exhaust gas will find another outlet to get out.

thats a good question, i very much doubt B&Q sell something so specialist.
You may struggle at the weekend, most of the ones I've just found on google are mail order or from specific specialist shops. Might be a trip out on Monday somewhere!

although I'm not sure this is right,
i believe exhaust gas temperature to get up to around around 850 degrees c but not sure how it would be when giving it the beans. I would get the highest temp rated stuff you can.

yes i have that one. Its my first one and only one. Had it for a while now.
It was for sale but it didn't sell so I'm planning on repairing a few more things and maybe trying again in the spring or i may decide to keep it once I've done the heads on it.

Its not completely standard no, its been de-smogged, has 4 branch headers and true dual exhausts, has a rejetted carb and opened up shaker scoop.
The valve stem seals (o rings) are perished and cracked and so it blows oil smoke out the exhausts after idling or high rpm over run.
its great to drive, pulls like a train.

should be sorted now I've retyped the link as it was from the youtube mobile site which doesn't work here.
however if your viewing on a iOS 8 mobile device you won't see it as they don't support the embed feature. (iPad/iphone)
