I recently got hold of a very nice limited edition 1979 Trans Am which had been fitted with a W72 motor to replace the Olds 403. As that's already messed up any matched numbers, I've taken it a step further and the car is getting a properly built high compression 6.6 based on a Ram Air III block with RAIV cam (more of that later, it's having a lot done and is going to be a nice thing to drive), so I have a W72 motor in very nice condition which will be available for sale soon.
These engines don't seem to come up for sale much and I'm new to Pontiacs. I just can't find how much more desirable they are than an ordinary 400 - anybody have a guideline idea what I should ask for it? It would be full engine less carb.
How much for a 79 TA L72 engine?

A good 400 engine doesn't come up for sale, the W72 engine was a performance upgrade on the 400, but part of the w72 package was the carb, a 800 cfm Rochester, id say its worth around 1k with the carb, put it up for 1k ono and see, its a supply and demand thing really,
