Value of my running Firebird 1991 3.1 V6 engine

Post by alexgibson » Sat Jan 10, 2015 10:48 pm

Hi all,

I'm new to this forum, recently bought my 3rd Third Gen Firebird, and I am planning some very non-standard drivetrain changes.

To plan my project, I am keen to understand what my current 3.1 V6 and all ancillary components would be worth in general or to any forum members as a 'live transplant'?

If this isn't the appropriate place, please let me know. It's not a 'for sale' as such, as the removal of the engine would be part of any deal.

Cheers
Alex

I know that recently a few V6 engines came up on eBay starting at around £300 but over a period of months they eventually got lowered in price until they sold for around £50.

I'm afraid the demand for a V6 engine is very low as most want to do what you are planning or at the very least upgrade to a V8 motor.

Wow, at that price it might make an attractive upgrade to someone's lawn mower! I had seen some variable prices. Here there is both the advantage and disadvantage that it's all plumbed in to a working car. It could be valuable as a replacement for a blown engine.

I am not in a hurry, I think there may be interest from a friend with an MX-5 for removal of fully working V6 engine...

Sorry Alex but Ian is right, demand pretty low for a V6 so you'll struggle to sell certainly to American scene. Not too genned up regards the Mazda demand so i'd take the first offer.
