Trans am wont run for long

Hi guys
Looking for some ideas, when cold car starts but all the cooling fans kick in instantly
When the car warms up the fans stop and then the engine splutters as tho it's got fuel shortage, if you touch the throttle the engine dies.
It then won't restart until it cools down and we are back to square one
Suggestions please as am stumped at the moment
