Second Gen 400ci Flywheel

Post by moggsy » Tue May 17, 2016 10:53 pm

Hello all

My manual 2nd gen has had a new clutch but still judders like crazy when hot .... we are thinking warped flywheel is the likely culprit. Has anyone else bought one (I was looking at the McLeod steel one from Summit Racing) and if so was it good, bad or indifferent?

I have to do something, it's getting embarassing - the whole car shakes when I pull away now, and fast launches are a thing of the past >:(

The flywheel can be refaced (skimmed) if there are no hair line cracks by a machine shop at minimal cost. I would recommend a good quality new clutch when refitting the gearbox.

Being as I'll be doing the work, at my place of work it needs to be a straight swap in a matter of hours unfortunately, can't leave the car there. Besides the thing looked pretty bad when I did the clutch so we knew it needed sorting at some point. Hence looking into replacing rather than repairing. Still though thanks for the reply, we had pondered skimming but it was the whole car being immobile that knackered that idea! lol!
