De-Coding VIN number 1st Gen

Post by PF400 » Sun Feb 15, 2015 5:45 pm

Hi,

I am a little confused with my Vin number, I am trying to decode it and have worked out what all the numbers mean but it's the letters I'm stumped on.

My vin has two letters, here is an extract ....37GX10... It's the GX that I'm unsure about. Generally there is usually only one letter but mine has two.

I also noticed my VIN plate states "General Motors continental Antwerpen" which leads me to believe my 1st gen was built in Belgium and not the US.

Anybody an expert on this topic?

Antwerp Vins are a little different as you found

G = 1967
X = Antwerp assembly plant
