'84 Trans Am sitting higher on the front passenger side

Post by SuperDuty455 » Tue Sep 10, 2013 1:59 pm

Hi guys,

After reassembling the front end of my T/A last year, I've noticed the front right wheel is sitting quite a bit higher than the three other wheels.

I'm 99% sure the springs are installed correctly, with the end between the two guide holes in the A-Arm, and the rubber insulator at the top.
Sway bar links and bushings are new Energy Suspension polyurethane, shocks are new KYB, springs are the original ones (WS6 suspension). I had kept the front steering and control arms in one piece.
I've put it back together without the engine.
I haven't driven it much at the moment, just inside the farm (as it as no MOT yet, no insurance, and I haven't made the license plates).

I was told the sway bar end links might have a role here.

I've done some research and it's pretty common for 3rd gens and 4th gens to sit higher on the driver side, but I have found nothing about the passenger side.

Thanks !

could be tight on lower arm bushes especially if you tightened it up without weight on the arm/suspension.
if so the bushes will be twisting and holding the car up a bit

Chassis to body mounts can affect this
