4th gen V6 exhaust header gasket
My header has been blowing for a while and now its starting to sound like a train so it's probably time I did something about it. I bought the steel gaskets from Rock Auto and took it to a place near me to get done. I was expecting them to say a couple of hours as it looks pretty tight back there. But they quoted me 10 hours to do? So I'm not taking it there! How long should it really take? It can't be more than a few hours to get a few bolts off... can it? If it is, then it is worth getting some better after market headers whilst they're off? I know on 3rd gens then difference between stock headers and aftermarket headers when trying to change things like spark plugs is pretty immense!

Although I'm not familiar with 4th gen engine bays I can imagine it is a pig of a job as it's bad enough on 2nd gens. However 10 hours seems excessive.
I would ring Robin and see how much he charges for the job. I'd expect your local garage to have all equipment required for a job like that and so it wouldn't take as long as a DIY job.
Best person to answer on here is John as he and James fitted headers to a 4th gen V8 and so would give a rough idea how long to remove the bolts and slide a new gasket in on stock manifolds.

You did say ten hours Holly manure. I'd expext a new engine put in for that time period wow! I know Richard at American Technique has done quite a few.
