How are the flow techs?

I was told to save my money as they fit like a pigs ear with a 400 under the hood!?

I didn't find the fit too bad and they seem to seal well to the heads,i think i had to put a dent in one of the tubes on drivers side but can't remember what it was fouling on.I can just about get oil filter out to change it,i have to force it between headers and engine.I just bought them because they were cheapest just to get a exhaust on when i fitted the 400,didn't want to spend a lot as i hate having the 400 in there.

Hmmm seeing as though I'm going to spend my bonus I might go for more expensive ones as the headman ones I have at the moment don't foul anything and the oil filter has loads of room. I'm only replacing because the exhaust system is shagged and the headers are welded to the rest of the system!! Butchered!

Forgot to mention, they come down pretty low, drivers side on mine is lower than passenger side, but my car is lowered by about 2",can't go over the speed bumps on my street without scraping really bad.

That's a worry! I wrecked my current exhaust because it dragged on speed bumps and when going over pot holes which make the suspension bounce.

My headmans are well clear of the ground, it's just the back boxes which are close

If the headers are good why not just buy the 3" collectors and weld them to the headers, then a set to put on the pipe.
Something like these, but probably a lot cheaper at real steel

I was actually thinking of the ones that come with headers with reducer pipe, but thinking about it,just the flanges with gaskets might be better as they are thicker than header ones so won't bend as easy when tightened, these are a bit cheaper http://exhaustpartsuk.com/index.php?mai ... ts_id=1107

Or something like these http://exhaustpartsuk.com/index.php?mai ... ts_id=3030 But i can't see a 3' one, might be better for ground clearance though.

thanks again guys!!

Had a look at my headers last night and im not too sure if they are suitable for repair afterall, although i wont really know until they are off the engine. The are looking a tad thin and very rusty around the flanges.

But if they are ok....those thick flanges look perfectly fine for them!

I'm hoping the ceramic coating will help keep my under hood temp down too!

Not hoping for miracles but the untreated headers really do give off some heat!

Yeah if I was you I would wrap them :thumb: not too expensive on ebay

It will smoke a bit for a while though once wraped

If they are ceramic coated they shouldn't need wrapping,i wrapped my cheapo headers but hate header wrap, looks so crap not nice to look at.

try putting your hand on ceramic headers after a run and tell me if they are hot or nice and cool ;)
coloured wrap neatly applied looks fine and helps power (and why fit headers if power is not important)

Ceramic coating helps power, although i think they need to be coated inside and out,i know what your saying about heat though, thats why i wrapped mine, even the front wings and bonnet got really warm.
I didn't fit mine for power though, extra doesn't really bother me,i just think they look better, except when wrapped, and sound better.
