Vacuum

Post by Mikey V8 » Mon Feb 03, 2014 1:29 pm

Had a play around with the carb today as I thought it was running very rich, plugged the vac gauge in and id got 22in! Leaned off the mixtures screws gradually and the reading slowing went up to 24in!! Ive never seen that much vacccum on a trans am engine before! Also, wound the mixture screws in 2.5 turns so must have been very rich! From that reading, am I right to presume that the engine is still tight? Its done approx. 1k since it was rebuilt.

22 inch is high as usual readings are between 17-21 inch at sea level and a 1 inch drop for every thousands feet higher than that.

As for the cause I'm not sure - I'm reckoning John and Jon will know the probable causes
