carb inlet/outlets and intake inlet outlet HELP :-)

Hi all

ok i would like some help with various holes in the intake i have and also looks like various vacumm inlet/outlets on both the carb and the intake. car came to me like a battered old wreck so there was nothing much to go by or even if it was supposed to be there, plus parts on the car have changed since.

The car is not a million miles away from running in so and for this i am sending it to a local v8 racing engine company to do, i know they will look after it and double check everything before it fires plus add the odd missing pipe etc for it to run safely and correctly BUT i want to put on as much as possible my end as its cheaper for a start and there may be specialist parts that i have to fetch from the states and i'd rather not have it hanging around the shop costing money plus like to make an effort to send it there as gd as can be soooooo this is where you super knowledge and top banana people come in

so below is a few pictures that show

A pipe from the brake master cylinder to where?
Some sort of connector by the spark plus?
Some vacummy part below the dizzy with a very long thin tube on which goes where? also in that pic is a large pipe coming out of the carb?
A picture of the front end of the carb with 2 small inlet/outlets and 1 larger 1?
A picture the inlet showing 5 large holes and one screw hole im guessing that is for a fixture of some type and that the inlet holes are some water and some vacumm?

right.

Brake master cylinder servo vacuum connects to the larger port on the back lower portion of the carb which can be seen in the photo of the dizzy.

Dizzy vacuum advance connects to the smaller port to the right of the master cylinder servo port.

the 2 holes on the water crossover at the front of the intake need plugging.

One of the ports on the front of the carb needs to connect to that vacuum breaker on the side of the carb which prevents the secondaries from opening too early.

the larger port on the front can be used for the transmission vacuum modulator and the other will be for interior vent actuators if fitted otherwise plug it up.

The adapter with 2 ports down on the side of the head near the plugs can be left disconnected. It is a temperature vac switch for the original intake assembly which had a valve in the intake which directed warm air from the exhaust heat shield into the air filter housing. When the coolant got upto temp the switch would change state and vacuum would be removed from the air valve and allow cool air from the main intake pipe into the air filter housing.


basically the minimum items requiring vac will be:

Brake servo
dizzy advance
Transmission
Interior vent diaphragms
carb vac breaker

You will also find a larger port on the intake manifold itself which is for the PCV valve.

All other unused ports will need to be plugged.

Dizzy vacuum advance connects to the smaller port to the right of the master cylinder servo port. the mcylinder servo port is on the carb next to where the tube from mcylinder has just fed? sounds german i know but tink know what you mean

and the larger on the front you talk about is that connecting to the vacuum piece on the back of the transmission? and yes there are internal actuators or vents

don't worry, we don't know what we are talking about sometimes
we all have to start somewhere you will get used to what things are and what they are called after a few times
its a lot easier if someone is showing you rather than describing it

Ok moving on nicely
blocked of couple of the holes off at front of the inlet,
Got pcv valve and gromit in, does the pipe from that go to carb vacuum or inlet vacuum?
Got the dizzy vacuum and brake m/cylinder pipes to where they should be
Just got to get a hard pipe made up for the g/box vacuum
Any idea how I get the throttle cable to connect to the carb as ain't a straightforward lookin job for what's there?
And also where does the g/box kick down cable connect too?

Think that's it for now lol

the gearbox vacuum doesnt need to be hard/metal.

the pcv can connect to intake vacuum or on the carb below the throttle valves.

The throttle cable and kickdown cable should connect easily to the left hand side of the carb as viewed from the drivers seat. They just slip over the shaft and a beta clip prvents them coming off

Cable end slips over the shaft sticking out and the beta pin goes on the end

Ok this is what I have and it doesn't look as straight forward as yours, how I hold the cable on this pic is with the pedal in the off position. Hope ya can help

Ah that's a problem.

That's the issue with after market carbs.

Let me sleep on it and I'll try and figure out a solution if I can. Missed this post over the weekend sorry
