idle control valve removal

I am having trouble removing my idle control valve on a 1982 2.5L4 pontiac firebird. I have cleaned the throttle body but cannot release the idle valve to clean that. Any ideas please as there seems like no screws holding it into the throttle body & I darn not twist the rear plastic connector too much either for fear of breakage!
