Can anyone recommend a company that can reprogram an ecm to remove vats?
Thanks.
Richard.

The donor for my TPI upgrade was an 89 and the steering column was missing so I can't use the resistor trick. so I'd have to get a matched vats column and module, or have it removed from the ecm. I'm guessing that would be the cheaper option

there are not many resistor values on vats system (check out the key blanks on ebay motors for options) then trial and error should sort it
that would be cheapest

I've been doing some digging online, I see that there are 15 key blanks, so that's probably about £5 worth of resistors.
I also found someone on thirdgen.org that can remove vats for $35 inc return postage.
Also found this on ebay:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1986-1989-CAM ... 2ec6f55d7d

Seems scarily cheap thou as I've seen stock unmodified proms go for more than that.

So there are pleanty of options. I don't have an ecm yet as the donor one is toasted.
On a positive side note, I've been learning soldering and have nearly finished repairing the dash wiring for the TPI swap.
seemed scary at first with extra wiring for alarms and things previous people have added. after I cut it all out it seemed quite simple. I do like the fact that there seems to be a different colour wire for everything. make it easier for a novice
