Hi all,
I am having an issue where the ram air hood scoop vent is constantly open when it shouldn't be.
Below you will find a picture of the area, which I believe the vacuum piping from the manifold comes to control the solenoid. The small red box indicates where I found a blockage, which I think I cleared. Do you know what part is the large red box?
In my car I have a vacuum gauge, which is no longer providing a decent reading i.e. it must not be enough pressure. I am getting 4 or less hg per inch. Would low pressure cause the solenoid to be permanently open?
Any help or advice would be warmly received.
Thanks,
Anil

low pressure would cause it (it is intended to open on open throttle which causes vacuum to drop)

Re: Ram Air Solenoid Keeping Vent Open - 91 Firebird
Hi everyone,
So I had a little nosy around the car on Sunday and noticed the following pipe seems to have no home. Any suggestions on where it should go, or should it be just left open like this?
It comes from the solenoid into a metal junction, where one bit is unplugged and the other goes in just under the black metal cylinder (air intake).
Thanks,
Anil

The pipe shown disconnected in the original picture had come loose from under the air filter housing. After reconnecting everything works fine and engine is running a little smoother now . Thanks for all your help guys.
