Hi
Please could anybody point me in the right direction with my 4th gen 3.4l firebird
When I turn the lights off, the lights go off, but one of them shuts down and then comes straight back up again, although doesn't turn on (luckily). I have changed the motor that controls the lights coming up and down and its still doing exactly the same - any ideas what I should change or check next?
thanks in advance

Hi Darren
Possible cause is worn cogs on the drive gear. If they are stripped the light doesn't recognise that it's in the down position as it may not reach the bump stop. If it doesn't think it's down it will pop up again.
If it is the gears you've got a couple of options, cheapskate one is to flip the existing ones over as there may be enough life left on the teeth or you can buy replacements, plastic or brass.

Get brass gears, there's a kit available for the Fiero which is the same. I did this to my 2001 Firehawk when my lights played up, it's well worth the expence.

See if you can borrow another control module from a similar car.
If you go on the net there is a long check procedure with wire changes ie it swops the wiring to the other headlamp to see if the same problem occurs, if its the same on the other lamp it needs a control module for the headlamps
