3rd gen headlights
What are good headlights to go for? I've finally had enough of my horrible yellow goldfish bowls which are about as illuminating as a tea light. I don't want HID lights as they'd be a pain trying to get the correct projectors but it would be nice to have a set of white/blue H4 bulbs and some headlight housings which look nice.
I've been looking at these type but it sounds like beam pattern might go up to the right judging by some reviews. But the ads don't really mention beam pattern.
Autopal (cheap and look good):
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B007JOHHWY?ie=UTF8
Rampage (good name and look good):
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B001OMPJH ... ZTTH3ZWBMJ
Hella (seems popular but don't look quite as good as the glass sets the beam pattern):
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0002M9QR ... 55D08PB4PR
So I'm thinking what UK cars have the same size. I think ours are 7x6"/200x142mm is that right? In which case they should be the same as Jeep Cherokee and possibly Toyota MR2?
These are sold here so they may be good:
http://www.powerfuluk.com/products/crys ... rokee.html
And they look exactly the same as
http://www.powerfuluk.com/products/crys ... -mark.html
And these would probably go quite well with a bulb like this
http://www.autobulbsdirect.co.uk/H4-Phi ... search=car
But has anyone here already got something like this?

Re: 3rd gen headlights
So what does a Bedford Rascal and a 3rd gen Firebird have in common? They have the same headlights!
I've just ordered the Jeep Cherokee set (because they came with a free tube of silicon sealant ), so I'll be the guinea pig as to whether they are any good or not. But having a nice supply of cheap non sealed 3rd gen head lights which dip the right way must be a good thing.
I got them from their ebay store, not their website.

Now I just need some decent bulbs to put in them.

Re: 3rd gen headlights
Good luck, let us know how they turn out. Just replaced the gears inside one of my headlight motors, couldn't believe they still worked as the three plastic dowels had turned to dust.

Re: 3rd gen headlights
Yeah I couldn't understand how mine still sort of worked at all when I took mine apart and they were just dust inside.
One of mine is making grinding noises now and there was quite a lot of resistance when manually turning it, so I might have to take it apart again and see what's going on. Could be the actual cogs this time instead of those other little things.

Here are the lights. They look pretty good. Hopefully they fit! When my car gets back I'll put them in and take some more photos.

Re: 3rd gen headlights
How did that go?
I am looking to do the same for a 91-92 Firebird.
So yours aren't going to be suitable, but I am doing the sane lateral thinking to find ones that will be.
Were they a drop - in fit?
Have they gone through an MOT?
Any issues?
Thanks!

Re: 3rd gen headlights
They dropped straight in. I haven't gone for an MOT since but they are E marked and point the right direction. And more importantly I can see at night time now, they are a million times better. I may as well have had a couple of candles stuck on the hood before for all the good my last lights were. I'll try and put a photo up.
