top right, and the one next to it (on the top line)
connect jump wire between these terminals, then turn ignition on (dont start)
it will flash code 12 first (to show its working) then the code
there are 35 codes, (will put them up on tech section one day)
let me know what code(s) come up and I will look it up

the ses light is on and now the rad fan is running all the time and not the one i have wired in does not have any pwer to speak of would be able to drive but not fast

tryed to do the codes put my pin in and the light does not flash have voltage to the pins and a earth (5v to pn b and earth to pin a )

any one know

and any one know were the ecu is so i canmake sure the plugs are good

going to have a quick look tonight see if i can see anything then will give up and look and post on 3rdgen have just been looking but cant find anything

I'm not techy on this really but I'd check that all of the injector connections are fine and then do a timing test or something. That should rule out two of the possibilities! :D

code 42 is electronic spark timing
if it is only coming on intermitently, according to the w/shop manual, it can be caused by a loose mem.cal, or one not fully seated in the ECM
worth checking

the mem-cal is the "chip" inside the ECM
it is under the plate screwed on the side of the ECM

do you know how to read the codes?
(put a bit of wire between the top right terminal and the terminal next to it, of the diagnostic plug) under the dash to the left of the steering column
then count the flashes of the SES light

:yup:

Just remember to take it out when your done lol. I've left mine in before and then it flashes...I also think that it disconnects the ECM because the car doesn't run right when the clip is shorting those two pins.

I took my car (3rd gen) into the garage to have a number of things done, since having my car back my engine lights been coming on and off , when it does this It goes into limp mode and I lose about half the power of my car , after aroud 1-2 mins the light goes off and drives fine.
There's times where I can drive for up to an hour or more with out it happening and other times it will be doing it every 5 mins and can get very annoying to drive .

Thing I had done are - new distributer cap, inlet manifold gaskets, rocker box gaskets, new exhaust, new y pipe, de cat pipe, new water pump, tappets ajusted, lockdown cable ajusted , plus a few more things like breaks and that.

I've read codes and got code 43 .

Anybody got any suggestions ?

code 43= Low voltage at electronic spark timing circuit (knock sensor/ign. circuit)

probably a poor connection at the plug in the distributor (ign. module)
