Lower

I've been considering dropping the ride height as I don't really like the big gaping amounts of free space in the wheel arches. Anyone know what drop I could realistically get away with? I know James had his lowered a bit but can't remember by how much. Looks pretty damn cool though. What are the best springs to get and do I need to change the shocks or anything?

Cheers guys.

Don't need to change shocks or struts, i've got the Eibach Pro-kit which is one and half inch drop. The Sportline is a bigger drop but i didn't want to risk that on sleeping policemen etc.

Ground clearance is absolutely fine with the Pro version and improves the handling no end. Get in contact with Rocky to get a quote ;)

have a look on the Eibach website for a few details http://eibach.com/cgi-bin/htmlos.exe/00 ... 2900031000

Thanks for the cool comment BTW :)

cant go wrong with eibach pro kit
got them on mine, as james said, improves handling without sacrifising ride and practicality

Prokit is a 1" drop on a 3rd gen, Sportlines are better on handling but are lower picture below

Yeah that Camaro looks about the right sort of ride height. Don't wanna go any lower than that really as I'll end up scuffing the ground with all those speed bumps around.

Wondered that as it didnt look low enough for sportlines but then it takes a while to settle down.

Isn't it a good idea to fit rear lower control arm relocation brackets after a height drop so as to prevent wheel hop.
My Camaro was lowered and under heavy acceleration, especially round corners.. :oldevil: the rear axle would bang up and down something terrible.

Not had that problem with mine, possibly a useful idea if you're taking it on the drag strip regularly. Anyway, how did you get "heavy acceleration" with your V6

Anything's possible with a lot of determination and a very heavy right foot....maybe a damp road too :D

It would help but not needed unless you race the car alot.

After reading the above posts, I've just e-mailed for info on some lowering springs for my Firebird,.. God knows it needs them!

Older thread I know, but I've got a set of Hotchkiss springs on my car that advertised a 1.5-2" drop. Love the stance of the car now but if there's a good drain ditch, if I'm not going slow enough or at an angle, I'll scrape the nose a bit.

I was thinking of the sport lines too, ive only got the 14" turbocasts on mine so its mainly for looks over anything else, i dont really dive into the corners with these big tyres on. Im thinking because my car hasnt got a bodykit on it wont be as prone to scraping things anyway so i can go lower.

arent the sport lines an un-even drop though ? i dont really want a drag / raked look to be honest, just the same at all 4 corners

One thing to consider is you'll probably need an adjustable Panhard bar if you want your rear axle central. Found that by dropping the car it will cause the axle to be pushed to the NS as the original panhard bar will be too long.

thats the first ive heard of that :-/ my mate rob recently fitted springs and never mentioned that, i think they were the prokit ones

Go and upset him and point out that his rear axle is off centre

Some kick the axles out and some dont but thats what an adjustable panhard is for. It may not look out but can push one side out a bit. Both eibach kits sit quite level but the sportlines are lower at the front, If you need pics of the kits on cars just drop me an email. :thumb:
