Hood bird fitted.

Ordered a kit from a guy in New York which took nearly 3 weeks to arrive, 4 days from the US, the rest just sat in UK customs!

You can see in the pic all that was included in the kit and including shipping and customs duty, it was about £100 which I think is a bargain. Yes, it's not genuine kit but only the die hard will know it's not genuine. Here is the link. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/230932115959? ... 1439.l2649

Finally got around to fitting the hood bird today. Now I know its a 78 bird but I prefer the simple design compared to the 79-81 birds. Plus having the Formula hood with the vents, it's smaller and fits quite neatly behind them.

So after another machine polish to the hood, lots of soapy water, squeegee-ing and having to join it together as it was in two halves, it's on and quite chuffed with my efforts. Probably not everyone's cup of tea but I couldn't give a rats furry a$$" :thefinger:

Next to fit are the sail panel birds but will finish machine polishing the paint again before I do.

Looks good. Which of the engine sizes are you putting on. The 455 or the 6.6?

Thanks for the kind words everyone.

Now I know its a Firebird but have always been fascinated, since I was a nipper, by the two words 'Trans Am', so tempted to fit the TA decals to the front fenders and especially the deck lid as it will break up all the black.

Won't be fitting any of the engine size decals as it doesn't have a shaker hood, unless I fit one of those fake scoops, , but also, I have the 5.0 engine so neither are compatible.

Paul.

lookins good Paul, never seen a formula bonnet with a bird and it looks ok!

how did the trans am fender decals go on with the metal firebird badges in place? is it not a bit tight for the decals?

Not got them on yet Ian but I loosed off the fenders and removed the Firebird badges as would have looked daft with both. I then put tape over the holes and filled them from the back with a small bit of silicone sealer so they are not visible when the decals go on.

Good idea - I'm eventually going to put a bird on mine but will not be putting trans am fender decals on as I like the firebird badges. My concept when I first got mine was to create a sort of hybrid firebird and T/A. I liked the T/A shaker scoop and hood, and the bird but like the clean firebird look without the fender flares/spats.

Fitted the rest of the decals today.

As mentioned, they are not year correct to mine but I like the simplicity of them and they contrast really well against the black.

I know of one man who counts rivets, but at the end of the day, it's your car, so stick whatever you like on it... ;)

I've got an old disabled persons permit you can have for a nominal sum,but you must be quick, before Kev puts it on e-bay..
