France Holiday road trip 4th June to 8th

Post by cowboy1sf » Tue Nov 19, 2019 12:16 am

France Road Trip Holiday, June 4th to June 8th 2020.
** Please read all **
This is a preliminary inventory and information will be added as we go along.
So the dates are the 4th of June 2020 Leaving on the morning ferry to Cherbourg and returning on the ferry on the 8th
Robin has checked the ferry prices and we are looking at around £270 return for a car with two people. {So around £135 there & £135 back.}
Obviously you will need motel money £40-80 a night, per room depending, as this part needs to be checked out as yet. Then you have food,drink,fuel.
We will stop on the Thursday night after a few miles. then carry on down the coast along a lovely scenic route stopping at various places and war memorials along the way.
The friday night Stay at Vouille-les-Marais, {Lovely area} This will be our base for a few days while we are out exploring the area and meeting some French Pontiac/American car owners.
We will also be meeting William Ribiere and visiting his American car garage and his Le Pontiac theme Restaurant where we will have a meal with some live music on the Saturday night. www.pro-v8.com/

So this is a rough idea of where we are at the moment, more to come soon. So what we need now are people that are serious about coming.
The ferry people want 50% of the ticket up front the rest 2 weeks before leaving. Amendments can also be made up until 2 weeks before leaving {if you need to change car or cancel} First payment December latest January.
Under 10 cars and we have to book individually, over 10 cars and we can book as a group and possibly get a few quid off..
If anyone here gets any sort of discount with the ferry companies or has any ideas please feel free to message Robin or myself.
The Pontiac owners club made a similar france trip about 10 years ago and it was a great enjoyable success . {photo above} This doesn't happen often, I hope some of you can make it. Like I said this is a rough idea, the important part for now is whos coming and tickets. Please select "going" tab if you are sure.
Sorry for any spelling mistakes but its now gone 3am lol. also apologies as for some reason it just invited everyone in my contacts..

## French Cruise Holiday ##

Proposals so far: Thanks to William for his help putting things together.

Thursday meet up and get the ferry to France, Drive a short ways to accommodation for the night. Up early Friday morning for a nice long cruise along the seafront, visiting the WW2 war memorials along the way as it just happens to be D day weekend. 👍

Friday late afternoon / evening meet at Williams Shop/Garage, he will later show us where we are staying. [Yet to be decided]

Friday night eat at Williams Restaurant or at another restaurant that he knows of in the area in Fontenay le Comte.

Saturday morning meet up at Williams place {Le Pontiac} with other American car owners from France, for day out/cruise that will take us on a 30 mile road trip South near La Rochelle. Stop and have refreshments/food at "La havane" www.la-havane17.com/v3/

havana style restaurant near the sea.

After lunch; go for a cruise to visit La Rochelle and visit some interesting places like the harbor, ww2 u-boat base, and other places nearby along the seafront. After this cruise head back to our accommodation.

Saturday Evening; go to Le Pontiac restaurant for dinner/Party and live music {in English} 🤠

Some accommodation that we are looking at; {William will help organise a place at a good rate. If any of you or your partners are in to Escape to the chateau, this could be a good option;
