Phoenix on Firebird Fuel Flap 79-81
Does anybody know if the phoenix on the fuel flap door was an option or if it was standard? if it was standard - which years was it standard? My original set of tail lights (1980) have the phoenix on the flap, but the spare set im doing up doesnt have it, also another spare fuel flap door i have doesnt have it either.
i was thinking maybe for 1981 they dropped the phoenix from the flap and thats what year my spare set comes from.

The bird was only standard on 81 year cars, although some late 80 cars had them fitted too, also on the SE cars the bird was gold not silver

Re: Phoenix on Firebird Fuel Flap 79-81
wont be using my original filler door with the phoenix. I tried to remove it from the original hinge and bracket today and no matter how much wd40 or duck oil i used, the tiny plastic studs which hold it to the hinge with metal nuts on it wouldnt budge and in the end the studs just twisted right off
And then once they had snapped off, and i removed the cover it just sort of disintegrated in my hands it was so brittle.
