Speedo drive

Post by Gambit Trans-Am » Mon Nov 26, 2012 8:22 pm

Hello guys, my first issue with my 3rd gen, my speedo has stopped working. If I take the cable off the trans, the speedo works while spinning the cable end. but it doesn't work if connected to the drive. there is movement in the drive, but I am on expert in GM trans lol. could it just be the drive gear has gone south or could it be the drive gear on the shaft ? if so what's the easy fix  thanks Paul
if it leaves black marks, smells bad uses petrol and gets hot it's working rightImage

probably (and hopefuly) just the cable drive gear
just undo it and pull it out and have a look
if its the drive gear on the output shaft its a bit harder to change but as there is no speedo movement then its probably not it

Thank you once again matey, Can you tell me what drive gear to get for my diff ? I have a TH200 with 3,42-1 gears. I understand that there are several colours to choose from lol cheers Paul

best way is pull it out and look, at least you know it matches the speedo then
