Handbrake cable routing

Post by slprime » Tue Mar 08, 2016 8:23 pm

Hi - I've had a pre mot on my firebird and one of the things the mot tester has said is that i need to fabricate some brackets
to stop the handbrake cables from rubbing on the floor as they would be a mot fail :-/ - however every photo
i've ever seen has the brake cables rubbing on/against the floor or the exhaust - i thought thats how they came from the factory
do you agree that they are an mot fail ??

Not an MOT fail my friend. you need to find a friendly tester!

As a nod to the tester you could route the cable under the exhaust and place a small diameter long spring around the part of the cable which touches the exhaust so the cable will move within the spring and not run on the exhaust - but it is how they came from the factory.
