Q Plate MOT Advantages?

OK, so I've just bought a factory black, 1982 Trans-Am T-Top......thing is it's on a Q Plate.
Only been on the road for 6yrs since it was imported in 1989, and spent the rest of its life in a garage, so needs recomissioning and is on a Q plate. I thought this was a bad thing, but after a bit of Googling it seems perhaps it's a good thing, as there appears to be loads of things that don't get cheked at MOT time. So, can anyone in the know on here, provide a list of what is exempt from MOT testing on a Q plate.
So far Ive been told that:
Emissions arent tested (only visually to see if smoke comes out the exhaust),
Rear Seatbelts are not tested,
Side indicators are not tested.....????
Cheers,
Alastair.
