hi cars going for mot tomorrow and the seat dont lock back is it true that they are on an inertia system its 1991 3.1.v6 firebird

yes they do not lock like european cars it is inertia

did you mean belts ? or the seats ?
oh i am confused my seats do not lock never been a problem and the belts are inertia they dont lock either.
i think the seats are meant to lock as one of my cars they did. oh are you any more confused lol i am ......

Both seats and belts are inertia. best to take your owners manual to the mot to prove it in case they moan. unless they know the car.

the seats should lock back, 90% dont though. you could tell the tester they are meant to be like that. depends on the testers mood/degree of tolerance
seat belts are deceleration locking, not inertia locking like most euro cars (lock when you brake hard/crash)

thanks for all your help the guy never even questioned the seat but car failed mot . Needs some welding and a rear torsion bar bolt has snapped does any body know were i can get one looked on ebay but cant find one

All seats should lock as John says but alot dont.

you can fix the seats locking back with a hair pin......or if no-one sits in the back and you dont need them to fold forward, a screw does the job
