bench bleed master cylinder without tubes/fittings
My new MC arrived today, and unlike the last time, this installation kit didnt come with 2 plastic pipe fittings with rubber pipes and a bracket to direct the pipes into the reservoir.. before i bench bled the MC by filling the res, and pumping the piston until there was no air bubbling from below the fluid level or out of the 2 supplied rubber pipes.
The instructions with this MC say to screw in the 2 supplied blanking plugs, fill the res and pump the piston until no bubbles come to the surface - surely this wont bleed the MC properly as no fluid will have been pumped through the outlets?
Is there a way to do it without the pipes as i cant find the ones from the last kit. it was some time ago.

that should get most of the air out, then fit it and screw in the pipes but don't do them up tight. then gently pump to get rid of the last bit. a helper to tighten the pipes with pedal down helps

Job done! Not as bad as I remember, probably because all the nipples were easy to undo. Bled the whole system to change the fluid anyway.
Brake pedal now firm and instant, only problem is my right hand rear brake now locks up easily!
What's that? Over adjusted???

well the drums are the originals! so i guess id better take a look at the roundness of them. As for shoes, they have only done about 2000 miles,but to be fair the rear brakes have always been problematic which leads me to think the drums again....But i do remember that the starwheel adjuster looked badly worn when i last had a look inside the drums a couple of weeks ago.
might be best to get the entire braking system professionally checked out, as they are really poor in comparison to modern cars. I expect them to be poor in comparison, but not SO poor!!

also, when i reverse and brake sharpish, a metallic "twang" / thump comes from the right rear drum.

have you looked to see if one of the 200 springs and clips has broken or come loose?

Are you sure it's not the 300 springs and clips?!
Yes I checked that and they are all ok. Apart from being over complicated!!

sounds like they are just a bit to close to the drum as john said i set them by jack the rear or on the ramp in my case put the hand brake on the first click on the ratchet
now set them so they just drag a tiny bit when you spin the wheel but just a tiny bit mind ie slows the wheel a bit quicker than if not touching atall ,release the hand brake and check they do not drag on some cars you may need to set the hand brake on secound click on the ratchet to avod draggin when the brake is off, the shoes do move a little when you change direction, you could also have a seized hand brake cable or the mechanisiem on that side and its holding on a little
