I do believe LS1 discs would work with a caliper adaptor mounting & hacksaw. Wouldn't do a lot without upgrading the calipers to LS1.
As Big Chief says, first/best improvement are qualitiy pads.
I'm going down the LT1 to LS1 spindle route, I have a pair, and this is a straight forward swapout. I just need the LS1 duel pot calipers/pads & brake lines, + tracking realigned once done. (17" + wheels required)
All depends on how far you want to upgrade.

Re: Front Disc Upgrade 1997 T/A
Hi Nick, Got a complete brake upgrade set for a "93-'97 Trans am. Includes; 302 mm front discs cross drilled with 2 piston ali calipers. 296mm rear cross drilled discs with single piston calipers with handbrake attachment. All with barely used pads and braided flexi pipes. + Pair ali mounting brakets. This is same as later LS powered Trans am but with the advantage of cross drilled discs, and is a big improvement over the stock '97 setup. I'm looking for offers close to £300 which is proberbly what you'd pay just for a pair of front discs. Give me a call if you're interested. Thanx, Brian 0776 9900526
