Aftermarket Car Alarms

Hi can anybody please recommend any good aftermarket car alarms I've had to disconnect my old alarm on the advise of a auto electrician as the battery was being drained noticably. I assumed it was probably the alternator or a short at first , never the alarm

Whatever you do don't get one which has the movement detector which sets of a buzzer to warn people away if they get near! Used to have one of those and it went off at anything even cats. If it was activated twice within so many seconds the main alarm used to set off. Even heavy rain and wind did it..... Pain in the arse at 3am

Never seen the point of spending money on alarms,they don't deter car thiefs and most people ignore it when they see a car with alarm going off,just seeing it as a nuisance.Better to just have a good immobiliser.

This 4th gen comes with one. but none of my others had one. Though saying that I would like an alarm that puts your windows up for you and remote start

the ones that put the windows up are the ones that lock you out with the key in the ignition
had a few of them in for MOT and a few close calls

Agreed I guess a noisy exhaust would be better,at least that way you know who's car is being nicked,LOL.

would not get far mine is always low on gas even after i put it in lol

alarms are a waste of time and annoying i always rip them out when i get a car with one in 3 this year so far
get a kill switch all you need

When bought my trans it had 2 very badly wired alarms under the dash that didn't even work,by the time i stripped it all out it weighed nearly 4kilos and filled 2 carrier bags,alarms are only for the owner and only if they hear it,nobody else cares and wouldn't tell you if there was any trouble anyway

you might think nobody nicks these type of cars but they are known to get nicked! There was a post on the CCCUK about a 3rd gen camaro being nicked and never found!!!!!! but your right, alarms dont deter anybody now. My Astras alarm has been known the set itself off whilst driving and theres no way i can stop it until i disconnect the battery or supply to the alarm. Ive driven all the way home from work (8 miles) with it going off, and even passed police cars etc and they never even looked twice.

Def agree with super c kill switch is a good idea and think you can hook one up that needs a key

I've got a hornet maxx 1 alarm. It's decent . the inner sensor can be temperamental but you can put it in 'pet mode' and disable it. About 250 quid for the kit.
