Anyone fitted a cold air induction kit on a TBI? Been looking across he pond for around $20 - $100 but shipping is $45 - $65, then + import + vat

Have looked at non drop aircleaner 3" tall element as to not interfere with the TBI components but would like to route the filter to the front like below but add an extra length.
Any ideas?
Or use existing filter housing and modd it like this. I know its not pretty but it gives 7-10hp & better air flow than the stock.

The stock filter housing on the TBI has a load of sensors and vaccuum pipes attached to it so if you removed it entirely you'd need to work out what you needed to do with them.
Saying that, though the stupid flexi-pipe that runs off it to the front of the engine bay is overly restrictive. When you close the hood it practically blocks the intake entirely. Your idea of removing it and replacing just that pipe with the dome filter might make a bit of difference but at $20 I wouldn't expect miracles. I've never tried it on mine so don't know. I just fitted a K&N ring filter in the existing housing.

You can buy stainless tubing,silicone hose in different colours and universal filters on ebay uk and then you can run it however you like.

Only one sensor that needs to be attached found this:
The small vacume line for the THERMAC valve can be removed because it is not used, then plug the vacume port an the TBI where it was attached. the IAT sensor which plugs into the bottom of the air cleaner fit right into a port which was on the side of the new assembly. and the PCV tube which goes to the air cleaner can be removed and replaced with a valve cover breather. the attached pic shows the plugged THERMAC port, and the IAT sensor. i know this setup doesn't look perfectly at home on a Camaro, but it does one important task. it enables you to remove the air cleaner spacer thus unshrouding the throttle bores, which allows air to flow in around the bottom of the injector pods rather than squeezing around them from the top.

Let us know how you get on, dude. Would be interesting to see whether this simple mod wakes the 305TBI up at all.#

if you remove the carbon canister in the front corner of the engine bay, you can cut out the panel under it. if you fit the induction filter here, this will allow you to draw cold air from outside the engine bay (modified davids to do this)
